Israel Secures Spot in Eurovision Finals amidst Riots
The 20-Year-Old Artist Deals with Boos and Protests
Israel’s Eden Golan triumphed amidst protests to secure a spot in the Eurovision final with her song “Hurricane.” Despite facing boos and protests, the 20-year-old delivered a polished performance, fueled by the negative energy from the audience. She surged from eighth to second place in betting tables following her qualification.
Alongside Golan, Tali Golergant, representing Luxembourg, also earned a spot in the final. The tension around Israel’s participation persisted due to calls for withdrawal and security concerns. Despite this, Golan remained determined to represent her country with pride and resilience. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for Golan, acknowledging her success in facing adversity.
Golan is set to make a return to the stage on Saturday evening for the grand final, with experts forecasting her to secure a place in the top 10. Following the semifinal, Israel surged to second place in the rankings after lingering in the 8th position for weeks. Despite a large anti-Israel protest earlier on Thursday in southern Sweden, alongside a smaller pro-Israel demonstration, Golan performance proceeded without interruption.
