No Deal in Sight: U.S., Israel Prepare for Escalation with Iran

As tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States continue to rise, hopes for a diplomatic resolution appear increasingly slim.

According to political analyst Benjamin Moalem, recent statements suggest that while U.S. leadership remains publicly optimistic, contingency plans for military action are actively being considered.

At the center of global concern is the Strait of Hormuz — a critical chokepoint for international oil shipments. Iran has threatened not only to disrupt traffic through the strait but also to impose tolls on passing ships, a move that could send global energy markets into turmoil.

“This is something the United States is unlikely to tolerate,” Moalem explained.

Potential responses include U.S. military operations targeting strategic islands or key oil infrastructure, as well as efforts to secure shipping lanes and prevent economic disruption.

Meanwhile, global oil prices have already begun to reflect the instability, with ripple effects felt far beyond the region.

As diplomatic efforts stall, the world watches closely — aware that the next move could reshape not only the Middle East, but the global economy.

Following the Israel Daily News Podcast interview with Moalem, US President Trump wrote on Truth Social that the Iranians are asking for a ceasefire. He says before that comes, the issue over the Strait must be resolved. Listen to the Full Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5Dyfo25VczeArfT0bQhRmA?si=zd4A8IS3SlKRaZk4uzi6yw
