Israeli Hostage Alexander Troufanov Sends Heartfelt Message from Gaza, Marking His Second Birthday in Captivity

A video of Israeli hostage Alexander (Sasha) Troufanov, held in Gaza since October 2023, has emerged, giving his family and friends a long-awaited glimpse of his well-being. The footage, released just one day after Troufanov marked his 29th birthday, serves as a reminder of the hardships he has endured in captivity. Troufanov’s family approved the video’s release, relieved to see him alive yet troubled by his message.

In the video, Sasha expresses deep concern about his deteriorating conditions, explaining that the Israeli army’s actions in Gaza impact his day-to-day life directly. He mentions severe shortages of food, water, and essential cleaning supplies, noting that he has developed a skin condition due to these harsh conditions. Opening with a plea for Israelis to remember hostages during daily routines like eating, drinking, and showering, he concludes by asking for increased public protests for the captives and sends a heartfelt message to his loved ones.

Troufanov was abducted alongside his family from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023. Though his mother and sister were freed in a previous hostage deal, Sasha remains the last of his family held in Gaza, awaiting his own return to freedom.
