IDF Prepares to Block Palestinian Flotilla Headed to Gaza With Greta on Board

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced preparations to intercept a ship carrying 12 pro-Palestinian activists—including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg—as it heads toward the Gaza Strip in defiance of Israel’s naval blockade.

According to statements from the group on board, the flotilla is transporting humanitarian aid such as baby formula and food supplies. Organizers say the mission aims to highlight what they allege is an “ongoing genocide” in Gaza and draw global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the territory.

The IDF emphasized that any unauthorized entry into Israeli-controlled waters will be blocked. Military officials noted that they are monitoring the vessel’s route closely and are prepared to take action if it attempts to reach Gaza.

Israel maintains a naval blockade on Gaza, citing security concerns over the smuggling of weapons and materials to Hamas.

While organizers of the flotilla insist their actions are peaceful and humanitarian, Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that such efforts could escalate tensions and violate international maritime protocols.

Greta Thunberg’s involvement has sparked international attention, amplifying debate over the blockade and Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

As of now, the vessel remains en route and has not yet entered Israeli-controlled waters. The situation is being closely monitored by defense and diplomatic channels.
