Haifa Mayor Announces Plan to Name Neighborhood After Biden
It’s a gesture of gratitude for Biden's support for Israel.
On Tuesday night, Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav announced plans to designate a neighborhood in the northern Israeli city in honor of U.S. President Joe Biden. The decision comes as a gesture of gratitude for “Biden’s unwavering support for Israel.”
The move mirrors a similar action taken in June 2019 when the government approved the creation of “Ramat Trump” in the Golan Heights, named after former U.S. President Donald Trump. The establishment of “Ramat Trump” served as a tribute to the Trump administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and its acknowledgment of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
