From Gaza to Home: Dog Kidnapped on October 7 Reunited with Owner

In the midst of heartbreak, a story of hope has emerged—one that’s sure to warm your heart. Billy, a three-and-a-half-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz during the brutal October 7 attack. But against all odds, she has made her way back home.

Billy was discovered near Rafah by a reservist in the IDF’s Golani Brigade. After emerging from rubble upon hearing Hebrew, the dog was gently rescued and cared for by the soldier, who sheltered her in Gaza for four days before bringing her safely back to Israel. During that time, she became part of his family—until her true identity came to light.

A routine microchip scan revealed that Billy belongs to Rachel Danzig, who endured unimaginable loss: her ex-husband, Alex Danzig, and brother, Itzhak Elgarat, were both kidnapped and later murdered in captivity. The reunion between Rachel and Billy was emotional and deeply moving—a rare moment of joy that captured the attention of the entire nation.

In a time of profound grief, this reunion serves as a small but powerful reminder: even in the darkest of moments, love finds a way home.
