Families of Captured IDF Soldiers Release Photos from Early Days of Captivity

The families of five female IDF surveillance soldiers who were taken hostage on October 7th released photos on Tuesday evening, depicting the women in their early days of captivity in Gaza. These images, shared after a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aim to expedite efforts for the hostages’ release. In one undated photo, Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Agam Berger, and Daniella Gilboa are seen sitting on mattresses with signs of injury, bandages, and bloodstained clothes, indicating the harsh conditions they have endured. A separate image shows Naama Levy with a swollen eye and facial cuts, highlighting the severe treatment these soldiers have faced.

The families of the hostages have been actively pushing for a deal to secure their release, meeting with Netanyahu to urge immediate action before his address to the US Congress next week. They held a press conference where emotions ran high, with one parent symbolically holding a baby doll to emphasize the potential, or result of sexual violence during captivity. Her husband, Eli Albag, became ill and had to be escorted from the press conference to receive medical attention.

Meanwhile, protests erupted in Tel Aviv, with demonstrators blocking the Ayalon Highway, demanding the government finalize a hostage release deal. As the hostages’ plight gains international attention, the Israeli government faces mounting pressure to bring them home safely.
